Moore's Law

Moore's Law states that the number of transistors doubles approximately every two years.  This means that our technology will continue to grow more powerful and shrink in size as well.  Today's challenges in computer science are to do with making processors more power efficient rather than more powerful however.  We are beginning to reach a point where we cannot make transistors any smaller.  In approximately ten years, Moore's Law will most likely be irrelevant.  The switch to quantum computers will likely come shortly afterward.
